Fans Shut Down The Streets For Killer Kau
Fallen South Africa Amapiano star Killer Kau was honoured by his fans last night. The people of his community gathered outside his home for an unofficial candle vigil. They were singing praise songs and also chanting Killer Kau’ name.
Yesterday, Killer Kau’s record label Soweto Music & Entertainment Academy issued an official statement confirming the passing of the star and those who were travelling with him.
“On Monday the 9th of August 2021, the families of the deceased received a call from Marikana Police Station about a fatal accident that had taken place on Marikana road (N4 Northwest).
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 3 members affiliated with the record label, SMEA, an inspiring record label from Soweto. The trio was travelling to a gig in Rustenburg with other artists in the car. Involved in this fatality was hitmaker and Amapiano co-pioneer Killer Kau. Thando Tot was his DJ, TD who was SMEA’s official road manager, Mpura Mpura Artist, The Voice (Mpura’s DJ) and 1 other female.
We ask that you allow the families of the late youngsters to be given space to grieve their loss whilst we try to make funeral arrangements.

Killer’s girlfriend Olwethu also shared a video tribute to her boyfriend that has everyone feeling heartbroken. The compilation has video clips and pictures of moments the two shared. The track playing in the background is I Miss You by Aaliyah.

Their untimely passing has been so hard to process for everyone. Their careers had just started to kick off and they had so much to offer. Amapiano vocalist Lady Du recently opened up about how everything has affected her.
“I’ve been through soooo much in my life, I’ve been depressed, suicidal, I survived all that, today as I lie in my bed crying I feel a pain that takes me to a dark place. I feel numb, weak, the toxic environment I’m entering is not good for my heart. I’m crying for my friends, I have to deal with toxic people, still have to smile and act brave. People telling me to ignore everything, how??
“All I know is writing songs and championing God, I pray a lot, I fast, I meditate but I haven’t even done it. Because telling people to pray now has become something else. I will be honest, I am broken, I am in pieces, If this is the price we pay to be In show biz, y’all can close my curtains. God knows my heart. I love hard, I ask all my friends to pray all the time. Today I ask God to clean our hearts.” She said.
