Moonchild: My Music Is Always About Liberation
International superstar Moonchild Sanelly, has released her new EP Nüdes out via Transgressive Records. The EP is set to position her as one of the year’s greatest breakout artists, with her electrifying music and unique style ready to take on a global audience.
The EP features empowering anthems such as “Thunda Thighs,” which arrived alongside clips of the song’s TikTok challenge, as well as singles “Where De Dee Kat”, and “Bashiri”. Nüdes is packed with Moonchild’s quintessential infectious energy and sure to keep you dancing for the entire EP.
Moonchild is known of her extremely raunchy lyrics and performances which oozes sexual-liberation. The star says her EP is about liberation.
“The reason I used the title Nudes is because a lot of the times nudes are used against us and the whole EP is about sexual titles that are about ownership of owning it whether you are demanding sex or talking about your love fall or you are not going to tolerate bullsh*t while you are a lover of sex so it is to literally to liberate and say that we never wanted to be something that takes away our power in moment of fun and happiness we were doing it’
Nudes is a record of self empowerment. Her EP features her controversial song Bashiri, which has got tongues wagging, the playfully written song is about a woman who takes her cheating husband to a pastor to rid him of the ‘evil spirits’ that are causing his behavior. The ridiculousness of this concept led her to suggest changing the narrative of finding solutions outside of yourself. Only you have the power to make you happy.
The musician says her music is always about liberation because she has been a victim of sexual violation, hence she feels she has the power to use her platform to send a message to the masses and liberate others.
“My music is always about liberation, so releasing it now is literally because we can but regards to the music I make it makes sexual liberation content because it is something that is very close to my heart and something that I can never be tired of because, I’ve been sexually violated and instead of crying about it i chose to use my platform as a way to liberate others.”

Speaking about working how it was working on it she says,
“It was really amazing because, it is something I have been working on for like 2 years, so it was exciting to finally have it it out as well.”
Other tracks on her EP, includes ‘Thunda Thighs’, a fun loving educational party of sexual expressiveness.
“I want to have every woman knowing every bit of their existence is worthy of being loved and valued. Knowing that you are that b*tch. Owning it and saying it unapologetically.”
The project follows the announcement of her feature on the Gorillaz upcoming album Strange Timez for the track “With Love to an Ex” as well as her feature in Beyoncé’s Black Is King visual album for the song “My Power”.
Fearless, inclusive and a lot of fun, Moonchild Sanelly is only just getting started. Her iconic personal style combined with an outspoken approach to female sexual empowerment has earned her collaborations with Beyoncé, Die Antwoord, Gorillaz, Diplo and Wizkid and built her a devoted fanbase.
Speaking about what her favorite track on the EP is she says,
“Bashiri and Girls and Boys because it is talking about me taking my boy to the club and seeing strippers and just the openness in a relationship.”
The musician says she is not planning on hosting a listening session because she is busy with her upcoming album.
“I’m focusing on doing the album with so many releases and features and the Black Is King hype I’m using to promote my music,” she adds.
She says she will drop her album next year, because of lockdown she wants to be in studio when she records the album with her features.
“I’m happy about it Simphiwe Dana even publicly said she wants to be part of it.”

Moonchild says her album will focus on all the people she grew up listening to and all the amapiano and gqom artists, and the rest of the album will be about the world experiencing the music that is celebrated from her across the world
Speaking about how proud she is of her international moves she says,
“I’m super proud that things are going according to my plans,” she adds.
