Big trouble: King Monada to appear in court

Well-known South African singer, songwriter, and record producer, King Monada will face the music over a fee refund issue in court.

Khutso Steven Kgatla, aka King Monada, has been in a dispute with Limpopo Legends Awards organizer Mphoza Mashabela for allegedly refusing to pay back booking fees for the awards ceremony despite twice not pitching.

King Monada and Mphoza are to appear in the Ritavi magistrate’s court in Nkowankowa, Tzaneen, on September 2.Mphoza told the publication he doesn’t want to disclose much information.

“This is a straight forward matter because I paid him and [he] never pitched. I then gave him a second chance and [he] still didn’t pitch so he left me with no choice but to go to court and demand my money from him. What this guy did to me broke my heart as my reputation as an organizer was tainted by his unprofessionalism.“He isn’t my enemy, I just want my money back. I can no longer chase him because I need to clear my name of the madness he created by not pitching at the ceremony. That’s not how we do business and I have fans who attend my events including the Limpopo Legends Awards. I’m happy the court date is here. I’ll meet him in court.”

The publication has approached King Monada for comment. Any update will be included once received.

Earlier this year the publication received a copy of King Monada’s notice of intention to defend himself against the letter of demand.

Mihlali Ndamase Breaks Her Silence About ‘ Relationship’ With Leeroy Sidambe

Mihlali Ndamase Breaks Her Silence About ‘ Relationship’ With Leeroy Popular Mzansi content creator, and media personality, Mihlali Ndamase has finally broken her silence to address claims of her being in an abusive relationship with businessman Leeroy Sidambe, who has denied abusing the YouTuber.

Earlier this month Mihlali shot up trends lists after she shared images of bruises on her forehead, lips, and under her eye on her Instagram Story, writing “Thank you my angel Leeroy” before deleting the posts.Leeroy later released a statement refuting claims of being abusive towards Mihlali, claiming she sustained the bruises when he pushed her away after her attempt to stab him.

On Monday, Mihlali shared an open letter saying the matter that came to public light had “deeply” affected her and her business.

It is with great vulnerability I admit I was involved in a toxic relationship. This relationship started off verbally and emotionally harmful and matters quickly escalated to it being physically harmful.

I, unlike others, take full accountability for my involvement in the toxic dynamic. One can only be quiet for so long after tolerating gaslighting, aggression, emotional abuse, manipulation, obsessive behaviour and control tactics employed by an individual. Tactics used to distort my perception of love which led me down a path of pain and torment. The scars of this experience run deep and the trauma continues to echo in my personal life and in my business.Such cases can be complex, escalate gradually over time, and are difficult for some to understand, specially if they have no personal experience. However, that does not discredit or invalidate my story as I have lived it.

It is imperative for us to educate ourselves on the nature of emotional abuse, and gender-based violence and the devastating impact it has on families, individuals and communities. Despite the darkness that has clouded my past I am filled with hope and determination to embark on a journey of healing.

I’m committed to seeking the support and resources necessary to get the help I need to reclaim my sense of dignity and self-worth through my healing journey, I hope to inspire others to speak out, seek help and break free from any toxic environment.

Babes Wodumo Leaves Fans And Venue Owners Breathing F ire

Popular Mzansi singer and dancer Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane left fans and a venue owner fuming after failing to make an appearance at a scheduled event at Amigo’s Bar and Grill in Randburg, Johannesburg. The venue was packed with fans who had travelled from near and far, eager to see the Gqom queen perform.

According to ZiMOJA, guests, including media personality Kea Mofolo, expressed their disappointment, noting they waited until midnight before giving up hope. Fans had hoped for an explanation on social media but received none.
The venue owner, Moss, expressed his disappointment over Babes Wodumo’s absence, noting it tarnished the venue’s reputation for reliability. “It’s not a good look for us as a venue. We have built trust amongst our patrons and they know we only aim to deliver the best. But it’s disheartening when an artist doesn’t show up,” Moss told the publication.

The publication reported that Nondu Simelane, Babes Wodumo’s mother and manager, apologized for the no-show, explaining that transportation issues from Durban prevented them from attending. However, this explanation has been met with skepticism by many, who point to the fact that Babes Wodumo recently held a listening session for her new music project on Instagram.

This EP marks Babes Wodumo’s first project since the passing of her late husband, Mampintsha, and it seems the singer is eager to move forward with her career. In an interview with the publication, Babes discussed the Uthando Lodumo show, her music, and her life after Mampintsha’s death.

Despite the upcoming release of her new EP, the no-show at Amigo’s has cast a shadow over Babes Wodumo’s return to the music scene. The incident has raised questions about her professionalism and commitment to her fans.

The incident also highlights the growing trend of artists ghosting fans and venues, leaving them disappointed and frustrated. This trend is particularly concerning in South Africa, where the entertainment industry is still developing and artists are often seen as role models.

TV Star Vovo chased away from the police station, told to go look for the suspect who stole her phone on her own

Short n Sweet star Vuyokazi Nguqu alleges that cops instructed her to go and look for the suspect who stole her cellphone on her own.

Affectionately known as Vovo, she said she couldn’t believe her ears when the police told her to do their job.
Askies mama, what happened?

She claimed she lost her cellphone when she was with her friends and her boyfriend in her house in Kleinvlei, Cape Town, on Saturday, 6 July 2024. She then decided to go to Kleinvlei Police Station to report the matter and open a case.“I told the police there were people in my house. I told them I went out and left my cellphone behind. When I came back, it wasn’t there. It was stolen. So, I wanted the police to question everyone who was in the house, recover my phone, and maybe make an arrest.

“But the police told me to go and look for the person who stole my phone myself. They further told me to call them if I found the suspect. I was so shocked. How can I look for a suspect when I’m not a cop? The police asked me to do something that was supposed to be done by them. That was shocking for me,” Vovo claimed.I don’t even know if case is being investigated

She claimed after back and forth with the cops, they finally opened a case for her and gave her the case number.

Vovo

“But that was it. I don’t even know if the case is being investigated because no one who was in the house has been asked questions. This leaves me with a lot of questions about our country’s law enforcement. I understand that some would regard my case as small or lacking importance compared to other cases. But it was wrong for the police to tell me to go and look for the suspect,” claimed Vovo.

Alleged boyfriend tells his side of the story

Her boyfriend, who only identified himself as Titos, declined to comment, insisting that only the cops can ask him questions.

Amagata confirm Vovo’s case

When asked about the claims by Vovo against the cops, Western Cape police spokeswoman Anelisiwe Manyana didn’t respond. Instead, she confirmed that a case was opened.

“We can confirm that Kleinvlei police registered a case of theft for investigation following an incident on 6 July 2024 at Forcado Street, Forest Village, Kleinvlei. No one was arrested, investigations are continuing,” Manyana said.
