Siya Kolisi Joins FNB Family

Mzansi’s favourite rugby captain, Siya Kolisi, has joined South African bank First National Bank as their brand ambassador. This deal was negotiated with Siya Kolisi’s managers at Roc Nation.

Expressing how proud he is for joining the family, Kolisi believes their partnership will unify a nation. “This partnership is a continuation of a journey which began many years ago with this brand. Coming together and unifying a nation is of utmost importance at this time and a little bit of help can go a long way in helping others. I’m excited to be part of a brand that believes in #Realhelp and hope,” he told Sunday World.

The selfless global icon, as described by FNB’s Chief Marketing Officer, Faye Mfikwe, he believes his values will work in favour of their cause as he is an iconinc figure who gives selflessly.

“He is a true embodiment of nation building, unity and demonstrates the true value of help, trust, leadership and togetherness. We are proud to have him onboard as our ambassador and look forward to working with him in driving our commitment to make a positive contribution to society through the principles of shared value,” said Faye to the publication.

The first black captain to help the Springboks win the rugby world cup in the year 2019, also made headlines after bagging a deal with Roc Nation Sports International, owned by American rapper Jay Z.

His major win at the Rugby World Cup in Japan not only made the nation proud, but it helped the captain forge strong relationships with the industry greats. A huge fan of Roc Nation, himself, Siya joins an agency that aims to help elevate the careers of athletes, both on and off the field. The agency specializes in securing endorsements deals, media relations and philanthropic projects.

FNB topped the trends list last week when allegations of them being racist towards black clients who are account holders resurfaced. This was not the first time the bank was put to shame on social media, and soon after #FNBMustFall gained momentum.

The bank was accused of charging more interest to Black people on loans and mortages compared to other races. On top of that FNB was labelled as an “Apartheid institution that aims to keep blacks enslaved through debt”. The bank was also accused by tweeps that they consider black people “high risk” when they are processing loan, car installment and bonds.

Celebrities such as Ntsiki Mazwai was at the forefront of this movement which encouraged black people to close their FNB accounts.
