The self-proclaimed polygamy trendsetter Musa Mseleku and his four wives MaCele, MaYeni, MaKhumalo and MaNgwabe, are making a return to our screens this September. The last episode of season four left viewers with so many questions as the uncertainty of the survival of the polygamous marriage rose.
Uthando Nes’thembu always kept viewers glued to their screens as the drama never ceased. There is so much going on in the Mseleku household. Firstly it is the wives’ shady behaviour towards one another. Many thought the wives were putting up a front and being pretentious with each other.
Then there is the infertility issue MaKhumalo has to go through. Not to forget how much MaNgwabe is so eager to start her career as a nurse, and how Musa reacted when she broke the news of not wanting to fall pregnant anytime soon.
How can we forget how lonely Musa felt when all his wives started to drift away from him and spent more time with themselves.
The burning issue however which saw the first wife MaCele locking horns with Musa, was the idea of a fifth wife. In the upcoming season, we will get to learn if Musa has gone ahead with that thought, or if he has found a wife or if it will never go through, as per MaCele’s wishes.
How can we forget the time when Musa disciplined his wives for their “inappropriate” dress code!
Speaking about it’s return, the director of local entertainment channels at M-Net said the now that season 5 will premier on Heritage month, viewers will get to learn more about the cultural practice which has received some negativity from viewers, “This reality TV show continues to give viewers content that is intriguing and explosive, and as we head into heritage month, it gives them further insights into cultural practices that have been around for decades in the modern-day family set-up,” said Nomsa Philiso as quoted by The Citizen.
In a previous interview with Isolezwe, Musa said his polygamous family is more relatable as they are not scripted. “I don’t live a lie, everything that people see about me and my family is the real deal. Everything we do is not planned beforehand nor is it acted out. The return of the show, is all thanks to our supporters as they can see that we are not trying to please anybody, neither do we want to get closer to any celebrity,” he boasted.
This after Gumbi, the new polygamist in town, slammed Musa’s family for being fake. Speaking to Daily Sun Gumbi claimed Uthando Nes’thembu does not clearly display what polygamy is about. He wanted people to re-learn what true polygamy is on his own reality show.
Musa then warned him to not meddle in his affairs and stay in his lane. But their beef helped Gumbi a bit as he raked in those numbers, making his show the highest rated show.
