Tensions rose when one of Skeem Saam‘s actors was mistakenly shown as the winner of the Outstanding Newcomer Award. The crew began chanting “Skeem Saam,” leading Mpho Popps to step in and clear up the confusion.

“There was a clip on screen, but the person who won, actress Nefisa Mkhabela, is the correct one who was announced. We would like to apologize for the technical glitch,” he said.
