American rapper Dequantes Devontay Lamar, popularly known as Rich Homie Quan, passed away on Thursday 4 September in Atlanta, Georgia.

 
RICH HOMIE QUAN DEAD AT 34
Rapper Rich Homie Quan, best known for his hit songs Lifestyle, Flex, Tapout, Tell Em and many more, passed away on Thursday 4 September. BBC reports that authorities confirmed the rapper’s death and a Fulton County Medical Examiner said he passed away in Atlanta, Georgia.
The rapper’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. The medical examiner said that an autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

“On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024,” said the coroner in a statement, according to New York Post.

THE RAPPER WAS ‘FOAMING’ AT THE MOUTH
In the 911 call obtained by TMZ, Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams told the dispatcher that he was not breathing and doesn’t have a heartbeat. She explained that she placed a blanket over the rapper thinking he was still sleeping and then left to take her son to school.

However, when she got back, she “didn’t feel a heartbeat” and noticed he wasn’t breathing.

“I don’t feel a heartbeat. I don’t see him breathing,” she said according to New York Post.

She also said that the rapper started foaming at the mouth when she tried to move him. Williams told dispatchers that he had fallen asleep on the couch the night prior and hadn’t moved by the time she checked on him that morning.

This comes just days after American rapper Fat Man Scoop also passed away.

Their marriage lasted from 2002 to 2022, and even though things got complicated along the way—he even fathered a child during an alleged outside relationship—the love they had for their children remained strong.

The youngest, Lefika, spoke about the indelible Christian values his mother instilled in him. “She said that when she passes, we must pray and continue to know God. The popular actors Sjava, Nelisa Mchunu, Melusi Yeni, and Zinhle Mabena will headline Mzansi Magic’s new Monday night drama series Isifiso from 4 July.

Yeni who became popular for his Generations role as Phenyo Mazibuko also starred in shows such as Tshisa, The Wild, Isidingo, Home Affairs, Muvhango recently appeared in Durban Gen and Imbewu: The Seed.

Fans of Zinhle Mabena is popularly known for her Isibaya role as Sihle and her recent role as Lazarus’ (Khaya Dlanga) baby mama in House of Zwide.

Popular musician Sjava who’s appeared in shows such as Uzalo, Generations, eHostela, and Zone 14 will also star in the drama series.

Uzalo viewers will be delighted to know that their favourite actress Nelisa Mchunu, who played the role of Fikile will star in this drama series alongside The Wife and Durban Gen actor Ntando Mncube.

The supporting cast includes Duduzile Ngcobo, Bandile Maphalala, and Nkosinathi Kheswa.

While the DJ and podcaster said he had privately apologised to her and their children , he was compelled to publicly express remorse. “I’m sorry, my friend,” he said.

In February 2022 the couple announced the end of their marriage of 20 years, revealing they were divorcing. Despite their divorce, the couple maintained a strong friendship, showcasing their enduring bond on DJ Fresh’s podcast What a Week, days before her death.

DJ Fresh’s apology highlighted the complexities of their relationship and reflected on their last days together. “It doesn’t make sense. One thing I appreciate, especially about these children you blessed us with, is they are exactly like you.

“Because this woman personified love, she forgave me more times than I deserved. She would relentlessly not give up on me as a human being. Even when she said, ‘maybe we must just cut our losses’, she said it with love. Any other person would have probably walked away long ago but because she was love, she didn’t give up.

“The only thing I owe her that was meant to be delivered last week when we recorded the podcast, was an apology in public for heartache I had caused her. That was the point of that podcast — a public apology for any heartbreak, any heartache, any embarrassment, people’s eyes that I caused you.
