Phelo Bala banned from using the Bala surname

Zwai Bala has banned his brother, Phelo Bala from using the ‘Bala’ surname for commercial purposes amidst their ongoing feud.
PHELO PROHIBITED FROM USING THE BALA NAME FOR ANY BUSINESS VENTURES

The latest season of ‘The Bala Family‘ has been dramatic, with Phelo at the forefront because of his alleged drinking problem. He has been fighting with his siblings and is being accused of not taking accountability and not changing his behaviours, and there appears to be no resolution in sight.

It’s no secret that Phelo doesn’t see eye to eye with his siblings particularly, Zwai and Pinky. He is accused of drinking too much and discussing the family affairs with others. Through the show, it has been revealed that he is not a Bala and does not share the same father them, which makes him feel excluded.

In a recent episode of the show, Phelo says he wants to leave the family’s brand and be independent. This leads to Zwai prohibiting him from using the Bala surname.A user on X with the handle @brainzbhungane posted a video from the show in which Zwai Bala tells Phelo that he is not permitted to use the family surname for any business ventures.

Zwai sent the email to Phelo in 2019 and it reads:

“Dear Phelo, your business opportunities were and are still highly due to the strength of the brand Bala, which you were afforded access to.

“Again, you’ll agree that this is way more than just a regular surname as it has immense value carried mostly by its reputation. A lifelong investment went into this brand. To cut to the chase, I think it is only fair of me to afford you the opportunity to willingfully surrender the use of brand Bala for commercial use without taking legal steps,” he said.X USERS WEIGH IN

@Mbakho wrote: “So soo sad and silly, more especially considering the fact that he didn’t name himself. How about he say that to the mum that registered his name with Bala.”

@NorseTemet wrote “Ngesintu they were wrong to have the boy take the Bala surname when he is not a Bala in the first place. The reasons and manner in which they are stripping him are not correct. For his liberation and a sound direction in life, he should dump it.”

@ZiziphoDyubeni wrote: “This might be the blessing Phelo did not know he needed. I hope things work out for him. May this spark a desire for him to connect with his ancestral lineage, as it may unlock a new dawn for him. I won’t say much about uBig Bro loo!”

Siya Kolisi and wife, Rachel, reasons for divorce

Two-time World Cup winner Siya Kolisi and his wife, Rachel, have announced they’re getting divorced.

The South African power couple, who had become a symbolism of unity, married in March 2016 – eight years later they’re separating.

They have two kids together, Nicholas and Keziah, and have publicly stated that they will be loving co-parents.
Did Siya Kolisi slip up?

Former Stormer player Kolisi enjoyed family life in Cape Town before moving to the Sharks in Durban. Following that, he signed a deal with French side Racing 92 while Rachel and the kids stayed in the Mother City, only visiting in school holidays.

Separation perhaps formed the cracks, but there’s a hint of Springbok scandal in the air.

In 2019, three years into their marriage, the Springbok captain made headlines for allegedly messaging Cape Town model Marike Botha – Mrs Kolisi publicly defended her husband influencing Botha to hire bodyguards in response to the online hate she received according to TshisaLIVE. However, no proof ever circulated, meaning it would be wrong to jump to conclusions.
Full statement

The pair released the news on Instagram: “We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.

“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.

“We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for respect as we navigate this transition.
Kolisi’s next few months

Captain Kolisi will have to shrug this off temporarily as the Springboks ramp up preparations for their November tour, during which they will face Scotland, England and Wales.

Rassie Erasmus will hope to make it a clean sweep over their Northern Hemisphere rivals, making it 11 wins from 13 in 2024.
What next for Siya Kolisi?
