Somizi dragged for identifying as a married woman with outfit choice

Somizi dragged for identifying as a married woman with outfit choice

Somizi Mhlongo has been called out for crossing the line with his recent outfit.

The fashion choices of the South African celebrity have always turned heads, but this time, his outfit sparked more than admiration—it ignited a heated discussion about cultural appropriation and respect.

Somizi’s recent post wearing a traditional Ndebele blanket and idzila usually reserved for married women raised eyebrows, and a particular tweet brought this to light, exclaiming, “This is utter nonsense! This specific design of the Ndebele blanket and Idzila is specially made for married women only!! Manikelela la!!!”

For many, Somizi’s fashion statement crossed a line by repurposing cultural symbols that hold deep meaning.

Within Ndebele culture, specific designs of blankets and idzila are worn exclusively by married women, signifying status and respect.

These items aren’t just garments—they carry cultural heritage and identity. When worn out of context, it can feel disrespectful to those for whom these items are sacred.

Somizi Mhlongo wore the outfit to meet the legendary Esther Mahlangu. It was his first time meeting the Gogo, which was a dream come true.

Bongani Fassie Hospitalized After Nightclub Bra wl

Bongani Fassie, the son of the legendary late artist Brenda Fassie, has been hospitalized following a violent incident at a Johannesburg nightclub. Reports indicate that the troubled producer and singer was involved in a brawl that left him injured and in need of medical attention.

## A Night Out Turns Violent

According to a friend, Bongani had been on a night out celebrating when he became embroiled in a physical altercation. The friend described the situation as serious, stating, “It was bad—he had to be admitted because he lost a lot of blood.” The fight reportedly reopened an old injury, as Bongani had a previous scar from a stabbing incident last year in Randburg.

Details surrounding the confrontation remain unclear, but witnesses noted a verbal exchange escalating into physical violence. “Bongani can’t fight, so he was beaten up,” the friend explained. Despite the severity of the incident, it’s reported that he is expected to be discharged from the hospital later today. Attempts to reach Bongani for comment were unsuccessful.

## A Rockstar Lifestyle

This incident follows troubling reports about Bongani’s recent lifestyle choices. Just weeks ago, ZiMoja revealed that he had spent R400,000 in just two months, living extravagantly and partying like a “rockstar.” This reckless spending has led to significant personal turmoil, including being locked out of his rented apartment in Fourways due to unpaid rent of R17,500.

Friends disclosed that Bongani has been living with his two children, Brenda and Bongani, at various friends’ homes after losing his apartment. He had taken the children away from his on-and-off partner, Buhle, and they have reportedly not been attending school since then.

## Financial Troubles and Reckless Decisions

After blowing through his money, Bongani found himself in a precarious situation. A source indicated that he had taken out loans, expecting to receive more money in the future. His friends noted that his partying habits had spiraled out of control since he received the funds, leading to his current predicament.

The struggles faced by Bongani Fassie serve as a stark reminder of the pressures and challenges that can accompany fame, particularly when compounded by personal issues and financial mismanagement. As he recovers from this latest incident, it remains to be seen how he will address these ongoing challenges in his life.

Bongani’s story resonates with many, highlighting the need for support systems for those in the entertainment industry. It also raises questions about the impact of lifestyle choices on health and wellbeing. As fans await updates on his recovery, the hope is for a turnaround in both his personal and professional life.

@ngemazinhle21 also posted: “Oh mama 😭😍😍😍 I love this for you!!! Congratulations.”

Meanwhile, others noted that Ngema deserved to be happy following the hardships she experienced over the past few years.

In 2021, she shared details about her almost fatal experience she had during her pregnancy.

She explained at the time that she almost lost her life due to complications while giving birth in July 2020, while also fearing that her son would also not survive.

After losing her husband, actor, musician and former football star Dumi Masilela, who died in a botched hijacking just months after they tied the knot in 2017, she never thought she could love again.

“The way things happened between Tino and me wasn’t planned. I think God knew because things happened differently,” she explained to “TshisaLIVE”.

“This was supposed to be a fling and look at us now. God knew that after what I experienced, I’d be afraid to fall in love, I’d be afraid to open my heart again,”

“For us, it’s about spreading love. Letting the public know there are healthy relationships, healthy families. Because we live in a society that is always toxic, we need love and to show black love even more,” she added.

Last June, the entertainer and her partner also released their song “Tiyani”, which they dedicated to their son.

“The beautiful thing is we’re both artists, we’re both creatives, so there’s so much inspiration all around the house, and I think the song was just our love personified in an audio format,” she told Metro FM.
