Nolwazi Shange to Appear in Co urt Over Fraud and Cybercrime Charges

Nolwazi Shange to Appear in Court Over Fraud and Cybercrime Charges

South African actress Nolwazi Shange is set to appear in the Brixton Magistrates Court in Johannesburg on 23 May following serious allegations of fraud and cybercrime.
Fraud Allegations on Queen Modjadji Set

Shange, known for her roles in various television productions, allegedly stole close to R700,000 while working as a casting manager for the show Queen Modjadji in 2024. The production company behind the show, Rhythm World, filed charges against her after uncovering financial irregularities.

According to insider sources, Shange was responsible for recruiting agencies that provided extras for the production. Once these agencies had delivered their services, they submitted invoices for payment. However, she allegedly manipulated the payment process by changing invoice amounts and bank details, redirecting the funds to an unknown company linked to her.

Production staff and agencies later discovered the discrepancies when agencies began demanding payments that they had never received. This prompted Rhythm World to launch an investigation, ultimately leading to the charges against Shange.
Shange’s Denial and Legal Proceedings

When questioned about the allegations at the time, Shange denied any involvement, stating, “I don’t know about it. My contract with Queen Modjadji ended about three months ago, so I don’t know.”

However, legal authorities have moved forward with the case. Shange made her first court appearance on 26 March, and the case was postponed to 23 May for further proceedings.
Official Statement from the NPA

Phindi Mjonondwane, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), confirmed the charges against Shange, stating:

“The next court date is 23 May. She is charged with fraud and cybercrime and will appear at the Brixton Magistrates Court.”
What’s Next?

As the legal battle unfolds, many are waiting to see how the case against Nolwazi Shange develops. If convicted, she could face severe legal consequences, potentially impacting her career in the entertainment industry.

Unathi and DJ Fresh make a powerful return to radio

Unathi and DJ Fresh

Unathi Nkayi and DJ Fresh have officially returned to the airwaves, launching their first live show together from Oskido’s restaurant, Darumba, on April 1.

The duo now hosts on 93.8, formerly known as Mix FM, marking a significant comeback for both media personalities.

Their return carries weight, considering the challenges they have faced in the industry.

Unathi’s exit from Kaya 959 in 2021 made headlines after her fallout with colleague Sizwe Dhlomo.

The station cited “certain conduct” that made their working relationship untenable, stating, “Unathi Nkayi’s contract has ended prematurely due to certain conduct that rendered the relationship intolerable going forward. Kaya 959 can confirm certain incidents occurred which resulted in the breakdown of trust between the two parties.”

Following her dismissal, Unathi took legal action against the station, demanding R1.6 million.

The legal battle has been ongoing, but she remains steadfast in her fight for justice.

DJ Fresh also faced his own professional hurdles when Metro FM terminated his contract in 2019.

His departure stemmed from a dispute over language used on-air, which led to a complaint being filed with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa.

After three weeks of discussions, the SABC ultimately decided to part ways with him, citing “unsuccessful engagements” and stating that his actions had brought the broadcaster into “disrepute.”
