Asavela Mngqithi is a South African actress who’s popularly known for her acting as Ntwenhle on Isibaya that airs on Mzansi Magic.
From a young age it seems she always wanted to be an actress, and when she got the opportunity to study the arts her passion for acting grew even more.
Although she does not share much on her personal life, the actress revealed that she’s ready for marriage and the fans should get ready too. It seems this will be a wedding that Mzansi will never forget.

Asavela was born in Durban which is where she spent most of her life. She is the daughter of Manqoba Mngqithi who is a South African football coach.
She grew up in a township called Lamontville where she learned to speak isiZulu and she’s also fluent in isiXhosa.

Asavela attended AFDA College where she studied Camera and Editing.

Asavela was on the set of Isibaya and she said taking her baby to her workplace was scary but, with all the safety precautions that have been put in place to help flatten the curve of Covid-19 on the show, she felt safe and confident to introduce her baby to the world.

When you view her social media videos, it is easy to understand why Isibaya’s casting and production team felt that Asavela was perfect for the gritty and role she is currently playing.
She is already a hit amongst the show’s fans who admittedly tune in hoping to see her on screen.
When she is on set she is called Ntwenhle who is a young rebel lady that most viewers love as they feel that they can definitely relate to her. She is the daughter of Mandla Ndlovu played by Bongani Gumede.
“People seem to love my character. And everyone now seems to want to get to know Asavela. It’s a character that liberates women. She is doing something new, which is standing up for herself and do whatever she wants. I think that is why people relate to her,” she said.
Not only is she an actress, but what didn’t know is that Asavela is also a musician. In 2018, she released a song called ‘Isgubhusama Zulu’ with Melusi Mbhele. The song is of a ‘Gqom’ genre that is loved by many.

Most celebrities in the industry have been open about their sexuality, but one thing that has been a recurring theme on social media is people being questioned about their sexuality.
Asavela is no different as she’s also had that question thrown at her. A tweep asked the actress whether she was a lesbian or not to which she simply responded by saying: “No, straight AF”.

Being the victim of crime is one traumatic experience that no one should ever go through, but unfortunately, it does happen to most of us. The actress revealed that she was held at gunpoint and beaten up and all this happened while she was with her family.
Asavela was attacked for her wedding ring. If you hadn’t been watching Isibaya for a while, Asavela who plays the role of Ntwenhle got married to her on-screen husband – Dabula (Chris Radebe).
To make matters worse, the robbers broke into her home and they even referred to Asvela by her character’s name. However, although they couldn’t find the ring they were looking for as it belongs to the prop equipment used for the show.
The family was a quite shaken by the whole incident, but fans were glad nothing horrible happened to any of them.
