BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane wants the pass mark to be increased. ‘30% is not a pass mark. 40% is not a pass mark.’

As the release date for the 2024 matric results approaches, more celebrities, including Mmusi Maimane, have joined the heated debate surrounding the publication of the results and the pass mark.

MMUSI MAIMANE CRITICISES THE CURRENT PASS MARK
BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane has argued that a 30% pass after 12 years of education is not a pass mark.

The politician shared his views on X (formerly known as Twitter) as the 2024 matric results are to be released on Tuesday, January 14.

Maimane has been advocating raising the pass rate to 50%.

He stated on X that the current reporting of matric results is misleading, asserting:

“The reporting on matric results is based on a lie. 30% is not a pass mark. 40% is not a pass mark.”

BOSA STARTS A PETITION TO CALL FOR THE INCREASE IN MATRIC PASS MARK
In support of this cause, BOSA has launched a petition calling for an increase in the pass mark, which has already gathered over 13,000 signatures.

“We call on Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, to commit to scrapping this low standard and increasing the matric pass mark to 50%.

“We must equip our young people to compete and win in the global economy. And they can with quality education. This begins by upping the matric pass mark,” states the petition.

Mawhoo’s Controversial Demand: R500,000 Girlfriend Allowance

The Amapiano Sensation’s Bold Claim

South African singer Mawhoo has sparked a heated debate on social media after demanding a girlfriend allowance of R500,000. The Amapiano sensation believes her worth justifies this substantial amount, but not everyone agrees.

*Supporters Weigh In*

Some netizens have rallied behind Mawhoo, saying she deserves every cent. “Honestly, if I had it, I’d give it to her with a smile on my face,” said Kim_Khandashisa. Another user, 6uhle, commented, “She can literally have whatever she wants.” Athabzz chimed in, “And that time, she’s being reasonable, yho!”

*Criticism and Skepticism*

However, not everyone is convinced. Many have criticized Mawhoo for being out of touch with reality. “Mawhoo should only open her mouth when she’s singing,” said MzuraVanie. Monchingladbach added, “I hate people who don’t know the value of money and just say whatever comes to mind.” Ms_Everythin exclaimed, “As in half a million rands for just being a girlfriend? I’m going to need her to come back to Earth.”

*A History of Controversy*

This is not the first time Mawhoo has made headlines. She previously claimed to have conversations with international rapper Lil Wayne, even sharing screenshots of their alleged chats. While some found this hard to believe, others were impressed by her supposed connection to the rap legend.

*The Value of Relationships*

Mawhoo’s demand for a substantial girlfriend allowance has sparked a broader conversation about the value of relationships and the worth of individuals. While some argue that love and relationships should not be quantified by money, others believe that financial support is essential in any partnership.

*The Verdict*

As the debate rages on, Mawhoo remains unapologetic about her demands. Whether or not she will find someone willing to meet her expectations remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however – Mawhoo has once again proven her ability to stir up controversy and get people talking.

*Social Media Reacts*

The debate has taken over social media, with many weighing in on the topic. Some have praised Mawhoo for her confidence and self-worth, while others have criticized her for being materialistic and entitled. The discussion highlights the diverse perspectives on relationships, money, and worth.

Velaphi and Mbuso from Isitha are related in real life

In the world of television drama, the lines between fiction and reality often blur, creating intriguing narratives both on and off the screen. One such captivating story unfolds behind the scenes of the hit series Isitha: The Enemy, shedding light on the intricate connections between cast members and the drama that ensues both on and off camera.

Fans of the show may be surprised to learn that Kwanda Manyathi, who portrays the beloved character Velaphi, and Khanyisani Kheswa, known for his role as Chief Mbuso, share a familial bond in real life—they are brothers. Their mothers, who are sisters in real life, make the two related.

While their on-screen personas are embroiled in a tumultuous rivalry, the off-screen relationship between Manyathi and Kheswa adds a layer of complexity to their dynamic portrayal of characters locked in conflict.

The revelation of their real-life brotherhood adds a fascinating dimension to the storyline of Isitha: The Enemy, particularly considering the characters’ tumultuous history. In the series, Velaphi and Chief Mbuso were once close friends until their friendship was shattered by a love triangle involving a woman they both cared deeply for. The parallels between the on-screen drama and the real-life connection between Manyathi and Kheswa are striking, underscoring the power of storytelling to mirror and sometimes even influence personal relationships. While their characters may be locked in a perpetual struggle for dominance, off-screen, Manyathi and Kheswa share a bond that transcends the confines of their roles.

Navigating the complexities of portraying adversaries on screen while maintaining a strong familial bond behind the scenes is no small feat, yet Manyathi and Kheswa manage to strike a delicate balance, infusing their performances with authenticity and depth.

As Isitha: The Enemy continues to enthrall audiences with its gripping narrative and compelling characters, the real-life connection between Kwanda Manyathi and Khanyisani Kheswa serves as a poignant reminder of the intricacies of human relationships and the power of storytelling to both reflect and shape our understanding of the world around us.
