Unfortunately their mother passed away in 2009 and Thembisa says that that time was one of the hardest in her life. She still misses her mother and emulates her daily in remembrance. She describes her mother, Yolisa Mdoda, as organised and a well-mannered lady. Her mother was a Transet publicist and SABC continuity presenter which shows that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Mdoda has a great relationship with her father and sisters and values family especially since she now has one of her own.

After matriculating Thembisa studied Graphic Design Studies at Pretoria Technikon. She worked for a while after completing her studies but decided to apply to study drama at the University of Witwatersrand.

Career
Thembisa Mdoda is best known for being the presenter of Mzansi Magic’s “Our Perfect Wedding” season 6 and 7. The viewers loved her so much she managed to bag The Golden Horn for Best Presenter in the 2017 SAFTAS. In the same year she won Best Presenter and The Ultimate Viewers’ Choice Award in the inaugural Mzansi Magic Choice Awards.

Mdoda’s first gig was to be a newsreader on Wits Radio but then left when she was offered to host “Highveld After Dark” a show airing on 94.7 Highveld Stereo on weekdays from 0100-0400 hours. She also managed to land a role in the iconic telenovela “The Road” in 2015. She played ‘Thabisile Cebekhulu’. In 2019 Thembisa played ‘Amanda Molefenyane’ on “Isibaya”, a role that many enjoyed because of the feistiness and drama that Thembisa brought to the role.

Showmx’s “Unmarried” season 2 is out now and we see the return of Thembisa playing ‘Thembi’ one of the lead roles in the show. This season promises to dive deeper into the life of ‘Thembi’ and her struggles as a stay-at-home mother. Mdoda plays the role well and we can’t wait to watch more of her.

Zendaya stuns at double feature screening in her honour

ZENDAYA’S DOUBLE FEATURE
The actress wowed onlookers with her elegant monochrome ensemble, proving yet again why she’s a fashion icon.

The event, organised as part of an FYC (For Your Consideration) awards push, celebrated Zendaya’s stellar work in both films, according to IMDB.

She shared insights about her roles on stage alongside Dune director Denis Villeneuve.

ZENDAYA’S PROMINENT WORKS THIS YEAR
Fans and critics alike were eager to hear more about her transformative performances in these highly-anticipated projects.

Villeneuve spoke passionately about the importance of chemistry between Zendaya and her Dune co-star Timothée Chalamet.

“They met each other in Part One, briefly, and spontaneously became friends,” Villeneuve revealed. He said this during the Deadline Contenders Film event earlier that day.

“Their relationship grew deeper as we did the promotional tour. Now, they’re close friends. For me, that’s a tremendous help.”

ZENDAYA AND TIMOTHEE
He added that this bond played a crucial role in bringing the story’s emotional core to life, according to Just Jared.

“We structured the story around the birth of love between Paul and Chani.

Then comes the struggle of their love under external pressures like politics and conflict. All of that depends on their chemistry. I put all my chips on that,” Villeneuve said.

Zendaya also dazzles in Challengers, a sports drama directed by Luca Guadagnino. The film sees her play a tennis coach caught in a love triangle with two rising players.

INTENSE AND COMPLEX CHARACTERS
Her performance has already earned buzz for its intensity and complexity.

Dune: Part Two had stunning visuals and deep storytelling, while Challengers showcased her versatility.

Both films highlighted her ability to dominate vastly different genres. From sci-fi epics to emotionally charged dramas, Zendaya handled it all.

Zendaya’s star power resonates globally, especially with her work as Rue in the hit series Euphoria, according to Daily Mail.

Her fans in Mzansi have long admired her journey from Disney star to Hollywood royalty.

ZENDAYA’S DETERMINATION AND TALENT
With each new role, she continues to inspire young people. She’s proving that determination and talent can lead to extraordinary heights.

Meanwhile, fans of Euphoria will be thrilled to know that updates on its third season have been revealed.

Though details remain scarce, whispers of its return have sparked excitement.

South African viewers have embraced the show’s raw storytelling and relatable themes, making it a cultural phenomenon even halfway across the globe.

A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH
Zendaya’s presence at the double-feature screening only solidifies her as a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.

As Villeneuve said, “Zendaya brings something unique to every project. She has an undeniable magnetism.”

Dune: Part Two captivated audiences and Challengers offered a fresh narrative. The future looks bright for Zendaya.
