Picnic organiser Lusanda Beja says they’re sorry for letting the attendees down.

THE anticipated gospel picnic ends in disappointment.

A gospel picnic called Summer Gospel Picnic was meant to be held at Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town on Monday, 16 December, but it never took place.

It’s reported that attendees had to be sent home upon arrival as the organisers allegedly didn’t meet the outdoor event requirements, resulting in their permit being revoked. The picnic boasted top gospel musicians in its line-up, including the likes of Khaya Mthethwa, Sindi Ntombela, Xolly Mncwango, Takie Ndou, Keke, and Putuma Tiso. It was organised by gospel musician Lusanda Beja of Beja Music.”Due to some unfulfilled standard service requirements and protocols for an outdoor event, the city decided we could not proceed with this event and therefore retracted our permit.

“We acknowledge the oversight to have been on our side and despite our best efforts to salvage the situation during the day of the event, we were unable to resolve the issue on time and regret the idea that we had to send people back home,” said Lusanda.

He said from the bottom of their hearts, Beja Music apologises to anyone who attended and can guarantee that this is a big lesson.

“All the artists scheduled to perform had arrived in Cape Town and were on standby on site as promised. Everything was well on time, and we were ready to let people in at the scheduled time before the city requested that we put things on hold as they communicated their concerns with management,” he said.

Disappointment as Naledi Misses Chris Brown Concert Performance

Disappointment as Naledi Misses Chris Brown Concert Performance

Initially, reports suggested that 18-year-old South African singer Naledi from KwaZulu-Natal would open for Chris Brown during his highly anticipated two-day concert at FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Naledi, who was rumored to perform a feature song with the international superstar, had many fans excited to see her share the stage with the R&B icon.

However, disappointment set in when Chris Brown took the stage yesterday without Naledi. Hours later, the young artist added to the confusion by posting on Facebook that she was in Durban, not Johannesburg, where the concerts are taking place.Fans Question Management Issues

Naledi’s absence has left fans speculating about what went wrong. Many believe the missed opportunity could be due to her lack of a proper management team, which may have hindered her ability to coordinate with Chris Brown and his entourage. “This could have been a career-defining moment for her, but poor planning seems to have cost her,” commented one fan on social media.Divided Reactions

While some sympathize with Naledi, blaming her team for what they see as a lost chance, others have criticized her for not prioritizing such a major platform. “She’s young and talented, but she needs to take her career seriously if she wants to succeed on the global stage,” another fan wrote.

Chris Brown, meanwhile, delivered a stellar performance that thrilled his fans, despite the absence of Naledi. The show, which was initially sold out, continues to draw massive attention as Brown prepares for his second performance tonight.
Missed Opportunity

Naledi’s absence from the concert has sparked a broader conversation about the importance of strong artist management in the entertainment industry. As fans in Durban and beyond continue to express their disappointment, this incident may serve as a lesson for rising stars about the significance of preparation and professionalism in the competitive world of music.

SIYA KOLISI ENJOYS CAPE TOWN BREAK

For the last week, Siya Kolisi has been enjoying the sights and scenes of the Mother City. This started with a visit to Sevens Rugby at the DHL Stadium last weekend.

He’s also been posting pictures of himself wining and dining with friends, meeting fans, and, of course, enjoying the beautiful beaches.

“Danko, Kaapstad [Thank you, Cape Town],” he posted from a view of his luxury penthouse in an area that appeared to be Sea Point.

Siya then revealed his trip had come to an end, and he was set to return to Durban, the home of his club, the Sharks.

The 34-year-old was one of several experienced players who were left off the squad that travelled to the UK to play Leicester Tigers. The England club – which features fellow Springbok Handre Pollard – beat the KZN club 56-17.

However, Siya is likely to play in next weekend’s game against the Bulls at Kings Park Stadium. A week later, he will likely return to Cape Town, where the Sharks will face off against the Stormers for the last game of 2024.

WHERE IS RACHEL AND FAMILY?
While Siya Kolisi spent his time alone in Cape Town, the rest of his family is currently enjoying their own vacation in Australia.

Earlier this week, Rachel, their two kids, and his sister Liphelo jetted off halfway across the world.

Rachel met up with her siblings, which included Joel Smith and his wife, retired Olympic swimmer Tatjana Smith.

It’s unclear if Rachel and the kids will return before Christmas or if Siya will join them Down Under.

Amanda Manku Opens Up About the Heartbreaking Loss of Her Mum and Gogo

Amanda Manku Opens Up About the Heartbreaking Loss of Her Mum and Gogo

Hey there, friends! Today, I want to talk about something that’s been weighing heavily on my heart—Amanda Manku’s recent interview where she bravely shared her journey of grief following the tragic loss of her mum and gogo (grandmother). If you’re a fan of SABC1’s Skeem Saam, you probably know Amanda as the vibrant Lizzy. But behind that on-screen persona lies a deeply personal story that many of us can relate to, especially when it comes to loss and healing.

In 2021, Amanda faced an unimaginable tragedy when her mum, Gladys Manku, and her gogo, Letty Maphothoma, were shot dead while fetching water. It’s a heartbreaking scenario that no one should ever have to endure. To add to the complexity, Amanda’s dad was arrested earlier this year in connection with their murders and has been in custody since. Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions!

In a candid conversation with fellow actress Pasi Koetle on Mommy Diaries, Amanda opened up about how her mum’s death has affected her life. She described feeling like she’s been on “auto pilot” since that fateful day, but she’s slowly starting to come back to reality. “2024 has been that year for me,” she said, reflecting on the long road of healing ahead.

What really struck me was Amanda’s raw honesty when she expressed, “Something inside me also died on the day they both died.” Losing a parent is a pain that’s hard to put into words, and Amanda doesn’t shy away from that truth. Her mum was not just a parent; she was a friend, and her gogo was like a second mother. The bond they shared was beautiful, and losing both of them in such a violent way understandably left her feeling angry and confused.

“I was angry with God,” Amanda admitted. “I was angry that He took the two women I knew, who were God-fearing and prayerful.” Can you imagine grappling with such profound grief while also questioning your faith? It’s a struggle that many people face, and Amanda’s honesty about her feelings is a reminder that it’s okay to feel lost and upset in the wake of tragedy.

As she navigated her grief, Amanda recalled how she initially thought she was handling things well. But deep down, she felt as if her loved ones were still visiting her in spirit. “Losing your mum is something else,” she said, emphasizing the unique heartbreak that comes with such a loss. She even mentioned how she distanced herself from gospel music during that time because it just didn’t resonate with her pain.

What really hit home for me was Amanda’s reflection on her dad. “My dad was my best friend. He was my pillar of strength, and this is the man arrested for the murder of my mums.” Imagine the conflict of emotions she must be feeling—grief for her mum and gogo, love for her dad, and the confusion of the situation. It’s a lot for anyone to bear.

Despite everything, Amanda has found strength in her faith. “Being weak wasn’t an option. I’m the first born of five kids. I had to be strong for my siblings,” she said. It’s incredible how she’s channeling her pain into being a pillar of support for her family, proving that even in the darkest times, there’s a flicker of hope.

“It’s like I’ve lost my dad even though he’s still alive,” she shared, highlighting the complexity of her emotions. It’s a reminder that grief isn’t just about losing someone to death; sometimes, it’s about losing the person you thought you knew.

Amanda’s story is a powerful testament to resilience, love, and the ongoing journey of healing. It’s a reminder that while life can throw unimaginable challenges our way, finding strength in ourselves and our faith can help us navigate through the storm. Let’s continue to support Amanda and anyone else who’s dealing with loss, because we all need a little love and understanding in our lives.

“I really feel honoured to be called granny and I feel so proud to be a granny, although sometimes I can be so cruel and injure you with a needle pin.

“If you came into my house without informing, remember you can be injured somehow.

“I’m so happy and honoured. I honour those who are writing the scripts, dressing us and the production companies.”
