In the clip, she claps her hands with a beaming smile, clearly overwhelmed with joy.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “MY FIRST BILLIIIIIIIIII. I own water now.”

Fans and online users celebrated the achievement, noting that she has made history as the first African singer to have a solo song reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.

American actor Will Smith speaks good of the global star Tyla.

Hollywood superstar Will Smith has shared his thoughts on the music industry, and one artist in particular has caught his attention: our own Tyla.

During his recent stream with Félix Lengyel, the actor praised the 23-year-old Grammy winning artist and spoke about how far she’s come.

“I’ve been listening to a lot of world music. I love what is happening in Africa. I love what Tyla’s doing. We don’t even think about it that way but she is the first real African pop star. She is a new thing the world has not really seen,” he said.

This comes after Tyla made history as the only solo African artist to garner 1-billion hits on Spotify for her hit song Water.

In 2021 Tyla signed with US label Epic Records and has been making huge strides in the entertainment industry. Her growing list of achievements include joining Chris Brown on his European tour, getting a Travis Scott and DJ Marshmello feature and performing on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Previously speaking to TshisaLIVE, Tyla said she felt overwhelmed by her quick rise to international stardom.

“I hope people around the world can enjoy the music, the African music, because I feel we don’t have a big enough international audience. We need attention because we have so much talent.

“It feels crazy. I don’t know if I am there yet, but the international attention I am getting, I never expected it, especially so early. I was willing to work years to get to this point and to think it happened from one song. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity. When people listen to my music, having a pop style to it, I hope it becomes a more internationally recognised sound and they start falling in love with it.”

During her recent interview on Kanal 5 Sverige, Tyla spoke of how she wanted to become one of Africa’s biggest pop stars and inspire young people.

“I want to be the biggest pop star and I want the biggest pop star to be from Africa. I see myself on the biggest stages, winning the Grammys, collabing with the Drakes and the Rihannas of the world. I remember being very young and watching these people on TV, so I would love to be that person for other young children, specially from Africa. I want to be an example that it could happen for us.”

Palesa Madisakwane opens up about rejection from baby daddy Somizi

Palesa Madisakwane opens up about rejection from baby daddy Somizi

Actress Palesa Madisakwane has alleged that her ex-lover, media personality Somizi Mhlongo, pressured her to terminate their pregnancy.

Speaking on Hell and Back podcast (part two), Palesa opened up about the emotional abuse she endured, revealing painful details about their past.

“I was told to abort. When the baby was born, he told me he doesn’t love the baby because he doesn’t love me,” she claimed.

She further alleged that Somizi refused to take responsibility for their child, Bahumi, leading her to take legal action.

“He refused to maintain the child, and I took him to court. By that time, I had already started acting and was a known brand. It was so embarrassing, but I had no choice. Even then, he insisted that Bahumi was not his child. He demanded a DNA test, which came back positive.

While we were in court, he couldn’t even look at us—he just looked away and stood miles away. When the results came out, I just cried because I felt humiliated and disgraced,” Palesa recounted.

Despite the confirmation, she claimed Somizi remained unwilling to provide consistent support.

“Even after that, he wouldn’t support his child. I would call him, and sometimes he’d pay, but other times he wouldn’t. My ex-husband had to step in and support Bahumi.

I remember at one point, Bahumi didn’t have food, and I went to his place to ask for money. He was with his boyfriend at the time. He just stood there, threw R100 at us, and went back inside the house,” she recalled.

Palesa also alleged that in 2020, Bahumi was left homeless while her father was living in luxury.

“I was going through a difficult time, and I had separated from my husband. My two children from the marriage were living with my ex-husband, but Bahumi had nowhere to stay. She had to live with friends, yet her father was living in a mansion,” she said.

Thembisa Mdoda’s second marriage reportedly ends

Thembisa Mdoda’s marriage to Mfanelo Nxumalo is reportedly on the brink of collapse

Thembisa Mdoda’s marriage to Mfanelo Nxumalo appears to be heading toward an unfortunate end, with reports suggesting that the two have grown apart.

According to sources close to the couple, Nxumalo moved out of their Fourways home last year and has since settled into an apartment in Northcliff, Johannesburg.

The distance between them has reportedly only widened, with allegations that Nxumalo has already moved on and is involved in a new relationship.

Those familiar with their private affairs claim that tensions arose due to his alleged association with other women, which led to frequent disagreements.

When Mdoda confronted him about his behavior, he was said to have taken offense, feeling as though he was being unfairly controlled.

The situation has become so strained that the two are reportedly no longer on speaking terms, relying on email communication instead.

Hopes of reconciliation diminished further when Nxumalo failed to attend their child’s birthday party, despite contributing financially to the event. His absence was seen as a clear indication that the relationship was beyond repair.

Family members are said to have been informed about the separation, with insiders confirming that it is no longer a secret. When approached for comment, Nxumalo dismissed the matter entirely, claiming he did not know who Mdoda was before abruptly ending the call.

Mdoda, on the other hand, chose to remain silent, ending the call when contacted for her side of the story.

If the marriage does indeed end, it will mark Mdoda’s second failed union. Her previous marriage to actor Atandwa Kani ended in controversy after paternity tests revealed that the twins he had believed to be his were not biologically related to him.

The revelation led to a very public split, and now, years later, it seems history may be repeating itself as Mdoda faces another potential divorce.
