Orlando Pirates star called mother in tears

Orlando Pirates have had a defensive star in Thabiso Sesane since last season. The 24-year-old did not have an easy rise.
TWO LOAN SPELLS

After shining in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) reserve league before, Sesane was promoted to the first team in 2020/21. He was soon loaned out from Orlando Pirates to Jomo Cosmos and later All Stars in the lower divisions.

“[2021/22] Pre-season in North West, I think I got injured, so when we got to Johannesburg, I got a call from the office. They told me, ‘We’re loaning you out because we don’t think your space is available this season,” Sesane told PiratesTV on BucsCamp.

“I was shocked, I said, ‘Its fine’, then they said, ‘Its Jomo Cosmos’. It was tough though [at Cosmos], I won’t lie, I was always crying. I was calling my mother and telling her I was thinking of leaving this whole thing [playing football].

“To be honest, when I left Jomo Cosmos [at the end of the season], I felt I had already given up. I felt like a loan player, I think I played 15 games at Cosmos,” Sesane added.

Bongani Fassie ‘spends R400k’ in two months

Music producer and reality TV star Bongani Fassie reportedly spent over R400,000 in two months after receiving royalties from her mother’s catalogue.

According to reports, the star lives like a rock star despite being kicked out of his apartment after failing to pay rent. His two children are also not attending school, according to reports.
BONGANI FASSIE SPENDS R400 000 IN TWO MONTHS

Speaking to ZiMoja, a close source to the star said, “The kids have been sitting at home and not going to school since then, and he doesn’t seem to care.

“He keeps saying he is Brenda Fassie’s son when we try to talk to him about taking his life seriously, especially for the sake of his children.”

Last year, Bongani Fassie took his kids, Brenda and Bongani, from his on-and-off partner Buhle, who has also been with former Springboks ‘bad boy’ Sbu Nkosi.

No doubt, the damning rumours have since thrust Bongani Fassie into the top trends.

Rumour has it that Bongani Fassie was locked out of his Fourways apartment after failing to pay the R17 500 rent. This seemingly forced him to squat with his kids at his friend’s place.

However, celebrated producer and music executive Chicco Twala came to his rescue, but Bongani Fassie is seemingly blowing the cash he has received from his late mother’s producer.

Confirmed reports have it that he first received R80 000 cash but failed to pay rent and settle his debts.

An additional R100 000 was organised from one of the royalty distribution companies to assist Bongani Fassie. At the time, he had also received R200 000 in royalty payments.

“In short, he received over R400 000, but he doesn’t have money to pay school fees or consistently pay rent. He blew it all. He blew that money on alcohol and hosting parties.

“Bongani is 40 years old but doesn’t want to grow up. He is living like a rock star, and it’s affecting his children,” revealed the source to ZiMoja.
MAKING HEADLINES

After all, Bongani Fassie is not new to drama. Last year, he made headlines when he appeared on I Blew It. He revealed how he splurged more than R4 million on drugs while living in a R70 000 per-month apartment.

Over the years, Bongani Fassie has made it known that he intends to have complete control of his mother’s estate.

In recent years, Brenda Fassie’s estate has made headlines for the wrong reasons. It was reported that 25 million allegedly went missing from the estate without accountability.

Idris Elba plans big move to Africa to boost film

Idris Elba is ready to make Africa his new home. The British actor, known for his roles in Luther and Beasts of No Nation, plans to move to the continent within the next decade.

His mission? To build state-of-the-art film studios in Ghana and Tanzania. He aims to develop Africa’s growing film industry.
IDRIS ELBA’S BIG MOVE

Idris Elba revealed his dedication to this project, according to Los Angeles Times.

“I’m here to bolster the film industry — that is a 10-year process,” he said. “I won’t be able to do that from overseas. I need to be in-country, on the continent.”

For the Thor star, it’s a deeply personal project. Elba’s father hailed from Sierra Leone, and his mother is Ghanaian.
IDRIS ELBA’S VISION

He plans to build his studios in Accra, Ghana’s capital, and Zanzibar, a Tanzanian archipelago.

He even hinted at moving between multiple locations. “I’ll bounce around different locales — Accra in Ghana, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Zanzibar in Tanzania.

I want to go where they’re telling stories.”
LAYING THE GROUNDWORK

Elba has already laid the groundwork. In August 2024, Tanzanian officials allocated a 200-acre plot of land in Zanzibar for his studio project.

The actor calls it ‘West African Studios’ and promises it will match the standard of Hollywood, Nollywood, and Bollywood productions.

The Tanzanian government is excited. “We could see the rise of ‘Zollywood’,” said investment minister Shariff Ali Shariff. He was referring to a potential film industry boom in the country.
IDRIS ELBA AND AFRICAN FILMMAKERS

Elba spoke about this during a press event in Ghana in early 2023, according to Daily Mail.

He highlighted the lack of proper facilities and infrastructure for African filmmakers.

“We’ve been working on this for three or four years to raise a plan that puts a facility at the centre of African filmmaking,” Elba said. He emphasised the continent’s untapped potential.
GROWTH IN AFRICAN CINEMA

Despite the growth in African film production — Nigerian cinema alone produces around 2,500 films each year — the industry faces challenges.

According to a 2022 UNESCO report, piracy, inadequate training, and a lack of proper film institutions hinder the sector’s true potential.

Elba sees his project as a solution. He wants to give African filmmakers the resources they need to tell their own stories.
IDRIS ELBA AND THE WORLD VIEWS OF AFRICA

Elba’s motivation goes beyond just infrastructure. He aims to change the way the world views Africa.

“If you watch any film or anything that has got to do with Africa, all you’re going to see is trauma, how we were slaves, how we were colonised, how it’s just war,” Elba said.

“And when you come to Africa, you will realise that it’s not true.”
OWNING OUR STORIES

He is determined to highlight the rich traditions, languages, and cultures across the continent, according to Bella Naija.

“It’s really important that we own those stories of our tradition, of our culture, of our languages, of the differences between one language and another. The world doesn’t know that.”
ECO-CITY

Aside from film, Elba also dreams of creating an eco-city in Sierra Leone, where his father was born.

The project, led by his childhood friend Siaka Stevens, aims to bring wind-powered electricity to the region.

“It’s a dream, you know, but I work in the make-believe business,” Elba quipped. Idris Elba is not just building studios, he’s reshaping Africa’s narrative, one project at a time.

Lebo Gunguluza Mourns the Death of His Daughter and Denies Claims About Clip

South African business mogul and socialite Lebo Gunguluza is currently facing one of the most heartbreaking moments of his life as he mourns the tragic loss of his daughter, Kelebogile Keo Mpolokeng. The news of her passing on October 17 has left Gunguluza and his family devastated.

In a brief message to *TshisaLIVE*, Gunguluza confirmed the sad news, saying, “Yes, my daughter Keo passed away on Thursday last week. Please find details of her funeral service at CIC in Sandton tomorrow. We will appreciate your presence.” The family is preparing to say their final goodbyes in a service scheduled to take place in Sandton.

While Gunguluza deals with the overwhelming grief of losing his daughter, he has also found himself having to address another painful issue. A video clip has surfaced on social media, allegedly showing Gunguluza in an altercation with an unidentified woman. The clip has since gone viral, sparking negative commentary from the public

.

In response, Gunguluza released a formal statement, strongly denying the allegations connected to the video and condemning the timing of its circulation. According to Gunguluza, the video is over two years old and contains false and defamatory information. The timing of its resurfacing, coinciding with his daughter’s passing, has only added to the distress.

“I unequivocally condemn the circulation of a misleading two-year-old video containing false and defamatory statements. Its timing amidst my daughter’s funeral preparations is particularly distressing. Accompanying this video is an entirely untrue and hurtful statement,” Gunguluza said in his statement.

He also made a heartfelt appeal for privacy and respect during this difficult period, urging the public to allow his family the space to grieve without the added burden of false accusations. “I implore respect for my family’s grief and dignity during this agonising period. My family and I appreciate your support, kindness, and understanding as we navigate this unbearable loss of my daughter,” he added.

The viral clip has ignited a wide range of reactions on social media, with some users expressing their condolences while others focused on the claims made in the video. The situation has highlighted the often intrusive nature of social media during times of personal tragedy, with Gunguluza becoming the latest public figure to have to defend himself while mourning a loved one.

This is not the first time Gunguluza has been in the public eye for non-business-related reasons. Just recently, he made headlines with the launch of his highly anticipated book *The Art of Entrepreneurship*. However, the focus now is on supporting Gunguluza and his family as they go through this deeply emotional time.

As they prepare for Kelebogile Keo Mpolokeng’s funeral, Gunguluza’s family continues to request privacy and compassion from the public.
