THE family of Kwaito legend and businessman Doc Shebeleza is pleading for prayers.
“I’m shocked, as he was looking happy and healthy and preparing for the Aboguluvala event in Soweto, but we are hopeful he will make it after the operation,” said Shakes.
This is the second health scare that the Ebumnandini hitmaker has had this year.
In June, he left his fans and family worried after he was also hospitalised due to an undisclosed health issue.
The Kwaito legend rose to prominence in 1996 with his debut album, S’Kumfete, and has since been a defining figure in the Kwaito genre.
His music continues to resonate with people, and his charitable work with Amaha supports other musicians in need.
The legendary musician is currently fighting for his life in the hospital.
Doc Shebeleza, real name Victor Bogopane, is said to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while awaiting his surgery on Monday, 2 December.
The family spokesman, Shakes Mavundla, confirmed in a statement and said: “Mzansi, please put our kwaito legend, businessman, Amaha chairperson in your good, blessed prayers, who continues to assist the poorest of the poorest in our beautiful country.”
He also revealed that the Doc was fine and preparing for an event when his health deteriorated.
