Kelly Khumalo’s police escort drama!

KELLY Khumalo made a dramatic entrance to the stage at the Tshwane All White Festival, escorted by police.

After her performance, cops escorted her back to her vehicle. This festival took place on Monday, 16 December.

Back in December 2018, Kelly performed at the same festival without needing police protection, freely walking in to perform.Some fans thanked the police for ensuring her safety this year. However, other artists at the festival didn’t receive the same escort.


 

 

 
Tiny “Sister T” Baloyi, the founder of the Tshwane All White Festival, said: “Kelly was escorted just for security reasons, and nothing else.”

When approached by Daily Sun, Kelly was brief about the security arrangements and said: “I’m happy with the performance, and it was amazing.”

Her stage performance delighted fans as they sang along with her to hits such as Uthando and Esphambanweni.

A 34-year-old festival attendee said: “We’re happy that Kelly performed during the festival. I can dance to her songs. I’m happy the police took care of her.”

Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said: “This was an authorised event, and the police were responsible for maintaining safety as required by the Sasrea Act. The police intervened after the crowd reportedly advanced towards the singer aggressively, preventing any injuries or incidents.”
