VETERAN music mogul Chicco Twala’s son is set to appear in court.
Longwe Twala is set to face the judge in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 4 December, to verify his claims regarding his recent legal troubles.
The 34-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, 26 November, after being on the run for over four weeks.
This came after a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in court on 25 October for violating his bail conditions.
Longwe, who made a brief court appearance on 27 November, claimed he missed his court date because he was unwell and had informed his aunt.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane said they had demanded evidence to support his claims.
“Standard procedure requires that when someone misses a court date, an inquiry is conducted to establish the reasons for their absence. In this case, Longwe Twala told the court he was sick and informed his aunt. However, he hasn’t provided a medical certificate or any concrete proof of illness,” she said.

The investigating officer is working to secure a statement from Longwe’s aunt to corroborate his account.
Meanwhile, the state has indicated that it will oppose any future bail application, citing concerns about his reliability.
“He has already demonstrated that he cannot be trusted to adhere to bail conditions, as the state, we will present further reasons to oppose his release if he applies for bail,” Mjonondwane added.
Longwe’s legal troubles began in September 2024 following accusations of theft. He and his brother, Sello Twala, allegedly broke into their father’s home while Chicco Twala was abroad, stealing equipment worth thousands of rands.
Longwe was initially released on a warning pending an investigation into the alleged crime.
