Luyanda Zwane says that she sacrificed her special dreadlocks for a lead role in Sibongile & The Dlaminis.
The actress who recently left the show did not fully disclose the reasons behind her departure; she hinted that an older actor was mistreat!ng her.
“I sacrificed my dreadlocks for a lead role in telenovela” – she said Luyanda Zwane, the talented model and actress, has expressed her elation at reclaiming her beloved dreadlocks, a hairstyle that had to be sacrificed for her captivating portrayal of Sibongile, a young woman from the rural community of Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal, on the popular telenovela Sibongile and the Dlaminis. Zwane’s departure from the show marked the end of a transformative chapter in her career, one that required her to alter her physical appearance to embody the character fully.
Through her social media platforms, Zwane shared her journey, explaining that when she booked the role a year ago, the production team informed her that she would need to adjust her look, including her hair, to align with the character’s aesthetic.

“You may be wondering why I am so excited to have my hair back, so a year ago I booked a job for the Sibongile character, and they told me that they wanted to do something different with my hair,” explained Zwane.
“When I got to work for the make-up check, they told me that they wanted to cut my hair because Sibongile is from Ixopo and they wanted to give her a natural look.She also posted a video of herself crying while having her hair chopped.So, I sacrificed my hair. I cut down on my dreadlocks for the job, and I do not regret it; it was all worth it,” she said.
“And you may be asking yourself why I cried; it is simply because I got my hair when I was five years old, and I had to cut it off 10 or 12 years later. I am so happy that they are back,” she revealedReason Luyanda Zwane left the show

“Stop asking me why I’m leaving the show; you don’t know what I went through.When that one old actor told extras that I was faking being sick on set when I was on oxygen and could barely breathe.When they said I’m full of myself and it was difficult when I did not go to the watch party, in the meantime, I was at the hospital watching the first episode with my grandmother, who was dying of cancer,” she posted.
