Manaka Ranaka’s voice breaks during her farewell speech to her late daughter Katlego Manaka

Katlego passed away on 23 January after a brief illness, leaving behind a grieving family and a young son, Mpho. The funeral was filled with emotional tributes as speakers described her as a kind and loving soul whose presence brought joy to those around her.

## **A Bond Beyond Words**

Reality star and family member Mpumi Ranaka shared her deep sorrow, reflecting on her close bond with both Katlego and Manaka. She recalled how they raised their children together, forming a sisterly bond that extended to their daughters.

“We breastfed together, watched our kids grow, and built a special bond with my niece, Katlego. She was more than just a niece to me—she was a piece of my heart. The joy she brought into my life will remain with me forever,” Mpumi said, struggling to hold back tears.

Mpumi also expressed her gratitude to Manaka for allowing her to be part of Katlego’s life and for trusting her with her care.

## **A Sister’s Grief**

Thando, Mpumi’s daughter and Katlego’s close companion, also delivered an emotional tribute. She expressed the pain of having to say goodbye, something she never imagined she would have to do.

“I didn’t prepare a funeral speech for you because I never thought you would leave before me. I always thought we would leave together or that I would go first,” she said tearfully.

She described Katlego’s passing as losing a part of herself, a pain she will carry forever.

## **A Mother’s Unbreakable Bond**

Manaka Ranaka spoke from the depths of her heart, revealing that she felt her daughter’s departure even before it was officially announced.

“I felt you leave, my baby. My womb felt you leave. Even now, I still feel the pain of you leaving me,” she said, holding back tears.

She also acknowledged the pain Katlego’s young son, Mpho, must be feeling and promised to keep her daughter’s memory alive for his sake.

“I saw you last night, but you didn’t look like my KG. We will honor your memory, not just for ourselves but for your son. Fly high, my angel,” she said.

## **A Legacy of Love**

Refilwe Madumo, a fellow *Generations* actress, praised Manaka for being a devoted mother despite her demanding career.

“You allowed your daughter to spread her wings and be her own person, instead of living under your shadow,” she said.

The service was a reflection of Katlego’s impact on those around her. Though her life was cut short, the love and memories she left behind will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew her.
