Muvhango has officially announced its return and revealed the date.

After weeks of rampant speculation and uncertainty regarding its future, the beloved SABC2 soapie Muvhango has officially confirmed its comeback for a highly anticipated 27th season, set to premiere on 5 August. This announcement was excitingly unveiled at a launch event held on 25 July at Chartwell, Johannesburg, effectively quelling rumors that the long-running series might face cancellation.


 

 

 

 
Duma Ka Ndlovu, the executive producer known for his vision and creativity, took the stage to share insights about the ambitious changes viewers can expect in the upcoming season. “This season will see the most dramatic changes yet,” he stated. With a commitment to cater to a younger and more fashionable audience, Muvhango is reinventing itself while still maintaining its core value of storytelling. The show will sport a fresh logo and an updated title sequence, providing a modernized aesthetic that aligns with contemporary viewer preferences.

One of the exciting elements of this season involves the return of familiar faces alongside the introduction of new characters, aiming to revitalize the show’s narrative. Ndlovu mentioned, “We decided to bring back some characters who have been here before and throw them back into the show.” He teased the return of Lloyd Nedohe, who last appeared in the series over a decade ago, now revamped to contribute a new layer to the storyline. Additionally, much-loved characters like Lebo Elle Tisane and Wiseman Zitha will also re-enter the fray, offering viewers a blend of nostalgia and novelty.

The lineup of new talent includes a young actor, Tyson Mathonsi, who will join the cast alongside Liteboho Molise, who is set to bring a fresh wave of villainy to the series. Perhaps most notably, Ndlovu mentioned the return of Leleti Kumalo, a talented actress well-known for her role in the iconic production Sarafina!, highlighting the efforts to bring ” on board to enhance the show’s appeal.
