Orlando Pirates-Monnapule Saleng stand-off reaches boiling point!

Sports journalist and broadcaster Robert Marawa has given Orlando Pirates two days to address Monnapule Saleng’s absence; otherwise, he will.

The 51-year-old presenter took to X, writing, “we have the story but giving the Club their 48hrs to address their fans on the matter. Otherwise, we will.”

It’s close to three months since Saleng last took to the field, albeit remaining fit and healthy – the reasoning behind his absence has remained a mystery, the Buccaneers putting it down to ‘personal issues’, but, based on recent events, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

However, no one has been able to get a statement from Saleng, meaning the jury is still out on what is causing the spat.

Riveiro on Saleng
Orlando Pirates boss Jose Riveiro has been peppered with countless Saleng questions in pre and post-match press conferences in recent months, each time offering little to no explanation on the matter.

The Spanish tactician remained vague last week, saying, “I don’t speak about the health of my players; it’s something that belongs to a private space,” said Riveiro.“And the moment that the club feels that it’s the time to speak about which players are injured, how long they are going to take, and which moment of the process (of recovery) they are in, they will do it. It’s not part of my job description, (and) it’s not an ethical thing,

“I know it will be nice to know how close is Olisa [Ndah] or [Goodman] Mosele and what’s happening with Saleng but it’s not going to happen.”

What should Orlando Pirates do?
