Renowned actor Melusi Mbele, best known for his role as Jojo Kubeka, has officially exited the popular e.tv soapie Scandal! “Matthews approached us to advise us that he would like to pursue other ventures. The production and the channel support his decision and have agreed to release him. He will exit the story at the end of July. We wish success in his future,” reads the statement from the soapie.

Rantsoma joined Scandal! in 2021, playing the role of Lindiwe’s (Nomvelo Makhanya) lover and Vuvu’s (Mamarumo Marokane) baby daddy.

Scandal! Faces Viewer Challenges
Recent figures from the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) indicate that Scandal! has experienced a decline in viewership. As of May, the soapie is in fourth place with 3.5 million viewers, a drop from the 3.8 million viewers it had in April. The show was overtaken by Smoke and Mirrors, which is now the third most-watched TV show on e.tv with 3.6 million viewers.The loss of viewership can be traced back to March when Scandal! lost its signature first position to SABC1’s soapie, Skeem Saam, which debuted in the 19:30 timeslot. Skeem Saam has seen an increase in viewership, reaching 4 million viewers in April and 4.43 million viewers in May.

As Scandal! navigates these changes and challenges, the departures of key actors like Melusi Mbele and Mathews Rantsoma mark a significant shift for the show. Fans and the production team alike will be watching closely to see how the soapie evolves in response.

The Amapiano sensation left partygoers disappointed after he failed to pitch at a music festival in Johannesburg. Kabza, real name Kabelo Petrus Motha, was booked to perform at the Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival, which was held from June 27 to 29 at Constitution Hill in Joburg. The award-winning artist was billed as the headliner of the event, which featured the likes of Mörda, Sjava, Amagugu Ezwe, and many other acts. Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival is one of Gauteng’s biggest youth arts events, attracting thousands of youths from diverse cultural backgrounds to Constitution Hill to commemorate Youth Month (June). A source told ZiMoja that the MC kept announcing that Kabza was still on his way to the event, giving fans false hope. “They kept announcing that he was coming, but eventually, the crowd got tired of the empty promises, and some people started leaving, ” said the source.

 

 

 

 
Constitutional Hill venue marketing manager Janine Levinia Muthusamy told ZiMoja that the crowd was left disappointed with Kabza’s no-show on Saturday night. Muthusamy said she tried buying time by calling Kabza’s management, while organisers were busy scrambling around and making phone calls. She said that they eventually had to announce that he was not coming to the disappointment of his fans. “We tried to reach out all night with no response. It was a massive disappointment not to have the contract fulfilled and no communication,” Muthusamy said. The Qwabe brothers put in a lot of hard work to become successful artisans in South Africa, and it has paid off. The twins are originally from Kwazulu-Natal, a province in South Africa. It wasn’t until the sixteenth season of Idols South Africa that they gained widespread attention, at which point they decided to give the audition process a shot.

They had always planned on auditioning for Idols 2018, but ultimately concluded they didn’t have the self-assurance or fortitude to do so. Once they had won the trust of the public in 2019, they began the next stage of their development by actively seeking for icons.

They did so well that many people became completely enamored with them and began proclaiming them the victors even before the competition was over. Virginia was eliminated, and Viggy eventually withdrew from the opposition due to charges of control and that she was disposed of in an arbitrary manner, but their efforts in the opposition were useless. Both of these accusations ultimately resulted to Virginia and Viggy’s dismissal from the opposition.

In 2019, when they entered the Idols competition, the Qwabe twins were 22 years old. Since they were the youngest competitors at the start of the competition, they took the stage looking the youngest. The Qwabe twins will be 24 years old in 2021; they were born in 1997.

In 2021, they will have reached the age of 24. Whatever the case may be, they seemed older than their years based on their demeanor and general appearance. Although the Qwabe twins did not come out on top during their time on Idols South Africa, that hasn’t stopped them from continuing to chase their dreams of making it big in the music world.

The DJ Tira record label has officially announced their support for the duo. They dropped a new track this week called “Ziyakhala.” The siblings’ music careers are taking off, and they’re getting requests for more shows. They have been instrumental in the continued success of the company.
