DJ Zinhle Bags Her First-Ever Award

DJ Zinhle Bags Her First-Ever Award

2020 has been, hands-down, the best year for Africa’s number 1 female DJ, DJ Zinhle. It may have been a tough year for most, financially and otherwise but this Queen has been securing bag after bag throughout the year. This time she has bagged herself an award and it doesn’t look like she is done yet.

The Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMA) are Namibia’s premier annual music awards ceremony, recognising musical excellence across all genres, from traditional to contemporary as well as paying tribute to the various facets of music production including, engineering and video production. From their official Twitter account, they announced DJ Zinhle as the winner, after she beat Sho Madjozi to snatch the prize.

“Congratulations to @DJZinhle for winning the #NAMA2020 Pan African Artist of the Year award.”

The much anticipated 10th Namibian Annual Music Awards have been taking place virtually since Saturday, 15th August and is scheduled to end on Saturday, 14th November 2020. This means four categories have been awarded over a full weekend, two on Saturday and two on Sunday since August and public voting for Best Pan African Artist of the Year closed back in May already.

DJ Zinhle send her Tweets of gratitude and made sure to tag her fellow artists who were featured on, Umlilo, the song that earned them the prestigious award.

“Thank you for honoring us Namibia. @mvzzle_sa @rethabile_rsa are so happy.”

It is also shocking to note that this is the popular DJ’s first-ever award, considering that DJ Zinhle started her career around 2004. Initially, she wanted to be a TV presenter and never had any aspirations of being a DJ, until her brother’s passion for mixing vinyl’s rubbed off on her and her love and passion for being a DJ grew. She got her first break as a resident DJ on a youth dance show called Jika Majika that aired on SABC 1.

Despite numerous hit songs and achievements as a female DJ, she had never won anything until now…and she won it in Namibia even. At least other countries are appreciating her.
When she is not being appreciated for her talents, however, the best female DJ in Africa is making bold business moves and building her wealth through property investment, fashion & accessories and most recently acquiring equity in the prestigious sparkling wine beverage, Boulevard Rosé, making her the CEO. She had these wise words to share;

“For me, the perfect business acquisition has to share great synergy with who I am, not only as a DJ but as a woman too. I’d like to think I am the perfect mix between power and sophisticated and the Boulevard brand mirrors that nicely. I see great potential for Boulevard Rosè to go to new heights with my signature touch,”

We stan a hard-working queen and manifest many awards coming her way in future. Slay Queen. Slay!
