Get Rich Pays Homage To Mboma And Masilingi

Get Rich has released a new hit song dedicated to our very own golden girls Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi. It is no secret that the athletes are the true embodiment of boss babe. They have been raising the Namibian flag high lately, making us all proud of their achievements.

Get Rich has joined the world in paying homage to them by releasing a song featuring Tox 35 titled Our Winners. The song speaks about how proud the country is of them after recently winning big at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

In June Mboma participated in the women’s 400 meters race at the Tokyo Olympics and she won the race. The sprinter finished in 48.54 seconds, putting her at number 7 in all-time 400m achievements. Masilingisi finished 49.53 seconds in the 400 meters race and she came in number two

Although Beatrice is fighting a battle that South Africa’s Caster Semenya is fighting, she has proven that despite the challenges you encounter in life, there is always a silver lining. The athlete was banned by the World Athletics to participated in the women’s 600m race because her testosterone levels are higher than what is allowed for female athletes.

Speaking to BBC News she opened up about this affected them. “We all come from different areas and are raised differently. It’s just different. We are all created differently, with different purposes. So you can’t compare me with someone else. It’s really unfair,” said Masilingi.

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) recently announced a N$2 million sponsorsigho[p for each artist. Speaking to The Namibian, MTC spokesman Tim Ekandji said the athletes have uplifted the spirits of many people during these trying times and they deserve to be acknowledged for the good job they have done.

“During this time of Covid-19 when people are dying, when people are sad, we are very thankful for two golden girls Beatrice Masilingi and Christine Mboma, who have invigorated that spirit of unity and excitement in a country that is down, and in a world that is down. You could see what they did to world champions with their running, and that’s the sort of Namibian spirit that I’m talking about,” he said.

The sponsorship is valid for three years and they also received brand new iPhones. “We structured the deal in such a way that it takes care of their personal expenses and humanitarian needs, it takes care of their preparation and it takes care of the fact that they sometimes just want to go to the shop to buy a sweet.

“When the lights go off, everybody needs to go to a home, so the first part of the deal is that we are going to build each of these girls a home in their home village to the tune of N$300 000 each. While they are running out there they have parents and family members at home who need to sit comfortably and say we are celebrating our girls, and that’s the sort of dignity that we want to restore,” he added.
