Zahara Responds To Pregnancy Claims

Afropop musician, Zahara, real name Bulelwa Mkutukana, has responded to recent reports that she is pregnant.

A recent article by City Press reported that Zahara is said to be rocking a big rock on her finger after her partner, who is a medical doctor, allegedly went down on one knee. And that’s not all for the Mgodi singer who is said to be expecting her first child with her doctor partner, Mnyamezeli Japhta.

According to a source who spoke to City Press, Zahara is excited and scared because this will be her first child; especially because the baby came as they were still enjoying the honeymoon stage of their relationship.

“The pregnancy is still in the early stages, but we are excited for them. Bulelwa deserves all the happiness because she has been through a lot in relationships,” another source added.

However, the Ndiza hit-maker has disputed the recent reports about being pregnant, saying the only baby she is expecting is her new album entitled Nqaba Yam.

“This is not true. The only baby I’m expecting is my Album “Nqaba Yam” on the 13th of August,” she said in a tweet. She however, did not respond to the engagement claims.

Dr Japhta is a family man — according to his Instagram — as he is always sharing cute images of himself and his children. He is a father of three; the eldest being a baby girl; as well as twins who are almost 2 years old.

The good doc is also very close friends with musician Nhlanhla Nciza, who is one half of legendary group, Mafikizolo. Nhlanhla was married to TK Nciza, who co-owns TS records with DJ Sbu — a recording company that Zahara was signed to and was responsible for releasing her hit debut album, Loliwe, in 2011.

Unfortunately, things between Zahara and the label ended on a very sour note as the musician claims to not have received a single cent in royalties from her Loliwe album.

Zahara and Massive Metro radio station owner, DJ Sbu, have been involved in several back and forths for a long time now regarding her royalties. When a social media user re-ignited the beef between Zahara and DJ Sbu last month, DJ Sbu warned the tweep to not stir trouble by spreading misinformation. He claims that Zahara has been getting money from Loliwe.

However, in response, Zahara spoke to TshisaLive and disputed DJ Sbu’s claims. She explained that she saw that her music got uploaded recently on some digital platforms without her knowledge and that could only mean that somebody is getting paid for her hard work.

“It’s all lies, I haven’t been getting anything since I left the record label, and I saw recently that my music was uploaded on digital platforms without me knowing, which means they sold my records to somebody and it means I need to get a cut for it.”

She even claimed to not have spoken to Sbu in well over a year and made several attempts to call him but he never answered her calls; calling him a coward.

“DJ Sbu must stop lying. He must be in a studio with me one day somewhere… a TV interview where I say what I say and he says what he says, he must stop lying because he is a coward,” Zahara was quoted as saying.
